What we’ve missed about our Watlington office during lockdown – Your Logic team update

So, this year hasn’t turned out quite as we imagined! Covid-19 has brought huge changes to our daily routines – the challenges of lockdown, worries about the spread of the disease, and the impact on friends and family. It has affected all our lives and we hope you have kept yourselves safe and well.

At the beginning of August, as the UK government began to lift lockdown restrictions, the Logic team began a phased return to the office – a return to some sort of normality.

We felt it was important for our staff (and, if you look at the things we have missed below, the catering establishments in Watlington!) to open the office again.

We have all enjoyed the benefits of homeworking – yoga in the garden, more time with family, re-learning maths, to name a few – and we will continue to encourage it where it suits our staff and our business. But, if we’re being honest, it is so good to be back.

We love our small town of Watlington and have missed lots of things about the office and the people.

“I miss walking around the town, everyone you meet says hello and has a chat!” – Harmit, Director

So that’s where she disappears to… Now we understand!

“I miss the smell of the scented oils that come through from next door at ‘Peppermint Lime.’” –Harj, Chartered Financial Planner

For explanation, Peppermint Lime is the health and beauty spa in Watlington. Maybe Harj is just missing a facial – Anything you want to tell us, Harj?

“I miss the bacon rolls from Gary, the local sandwich man in the little arcade.” – Guy, Director.

We miss you buying bacon rolls for all of us when you go, Guy!

“I miss the butchers! Best fillet steak around!!” – Emma, Financial Planner

So, the next team night out is round to Emma’s for a steak supper then!

“I miss Bella Luce, the gorgeous light shop, I have been dreaming about a teardrop crystal light!” – Katie, Trainee Paraplanner

Wow, best start saving Katie (we know a good firm of financial planners who may be able to help you budget!)

I miss the views on my commute. I drive in from Marlow through picturesque villages like Turville and Northend. On the way home there’s a herd of deer that cross the road at Northend most nights. I also miss Kizzy in the Co-op, who helps me with gluten-free meal ideas.” – Susi, Client Services Manager

The local Co-op is a godsend… The staff are so lovely too.

“I miss the buzz we have when everyone is in the office; we work hard but have a lot of fun and there is always some banter about. We’ve even had the odd sing-song.” – Vicki, Administrator

Good job Lindsey wasn’t there when the sing-song took place – tone-deaf J

“The smell from the fish and chip shop on the corner every Friday lunchtime. I manage to resist most weeks.” – Lindsey, Chartered Financial Planner

To use modern terminology, the word ‘most’ is doing a lot of the heavy lifting in that sentence, Lindsey!

It’s great to have a bit more normality, but there are still limits on what we can do safely, and the wellbeing of our staff and clients is paramount.

We continue to monitor our Covid-19 response regularly, so watch this space for further updates on office visits and face-to-face meetings. In the meantime, we hope you and your families have managed to have a break this summer and enjoy the remaining few weeks.
