“It’s business Jim, but not as we know it!” – Your Logic team update

Any keen Star Trek fans among you will instantly realise that the above quote is not just incorrect (it should be “life” not “business”) but, in fact, it never appeared in the TV series at all.

But it does nicely sum up our predicament with the on / off nature of the various lockdown restrictions placed on everyone over the last year.

First, we had to stop going into our office in Watlington and quickly learn how to work effectively from home without the luxury of our multi-page printers and centralised phone system. After a while, the authorities said some of us could go back but only under certain strict conditions. Then we were instructed to all work remotely once more. It hasn’t been dull, that’s for sure.

We still maintain a presence in Watlington – socially distanced, of course – but you may find you get an answerphone message, particularly if you ring outside of normal business hours. Don’t worry, we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.

Thanks for bearing with us during all this, and for taking to Zoom video meetings like ducks to water. It’s been strange “meeting” some people for the first time via a video call instead of face-to-face, but we all look forward to the day when we can meet everyone in person once again.

So, it is very much business as usual, and we’ve been busy working on some exciting new developments. Here’s a summary of what you can expect from us in the coming months:

  • Free guides

We’ve started adding financial planning guides to our website and these are free for you to download. Designed to be both interesting and informative, the first two deal with the end of the 2020/21 tax year and offer a guide to inheritance tax and gifting. Check out our blog to view the guides, along with the rest of our helpful articles.

  • More control for you

We want you to have more control over your financial plans so we’re launching a new client portal, “MyLogic”. It will allow you to keep an eye on your investments, pensions, and savings.

You can track your other investments too, such as your properties and private investments, and keep all the associated paperwork together. So, if you’ve taken the opportunity to spring clean your finances, you’ve taken a great first step!

All your financial paperwork, including reports, valuations, and other statements, is automatically filed within MyLogic and available to you at the touch of a button.

The portal – which will also be available as an app – will allow us to communicate with you securely, free from the worries of email and post. You’ll be able to message us whenever you need to and from wherever you are. We can share documents with you, and these can be signed digitally, removing the need for hard copies.

We’ll be in touch with all our clients to let you know when MyLogic goes live and to tell you how to register for this exciting new service.
